Welcome to Room Made Lovely, part of the Home Made Lovely series!
Hi! My name is Kristy. I blog at camozzi on over. Though I am not a very frequent blogger, I mainly like to blog about my work. I am an oncology nurse, and my blog is usually a place where I can process things God is teaching me through my patients.
I live alone. In a one bedroom apartment. And it is one of my favorite living arrangements I’ve ever had! I did my fair share of girl roommates and needed a change of pace. I welcomed living alone with open arms and have loved every second of it since March. I want my home to be a place that I can come home at the end of the day, drop my stuff off in my room, and sit on the couch. My living room, in particular, is a big resting place for me.
My mom always decorated so well growing up. And when my sister got married, she picked up my moms decorating skills instantly. I have always been the less creative one! So its taken me awhile to step into the decorating world. But I have a lot of fun with it now. Some of my favorite inspirations are Anthropologie, the Alameda Flea Market, and a store by my house called Not Too Shabby.
I like to personalize my decorating a lot. I made my coffee table out of an old door. I left the paint as is, chipped and somewhat dirty! And I just put a couple coats of poly urethane on top to seal it. I cut off the bottom panel to make it a better size for my living room. My dad made the legs for me. And I tried to find a good match to stain the legs. My table is one of my favorite things in my house.
I also made this sign. Kind of a funny story behind it. The last house I lived in was a rental with a few girls. We had an overhang in our backyard. During a storm, a tree fell on the overhang and destroyed it pretty bad. Which was great for me, because i gathered some of the wood and made this sign! I love this verse. It’s from Micah and I feel like it is a simple sentence describing how our lives should be lived. It is a good reminder for me.
I am big on couch pillows. So they all kind of mismatch. I love pictures of my friends and family around as well. I feel it makes my home a familiar place for me.
I got my ladder at the Alameda Flea Market. I love that place. It’s a decorator’s heaven. Got a lot of my bottles there as well. Along with the metal heart. And that darling wreath was made for me by my sissy.
My mason jars go through phases depending on what season it is. Right now it’s candy corn! But soon it will be Christmas lights and probably some pinecones.
My wall collage is a work in progress. Still have a lot to add. But this is the beginning. The two silhouettes are of my sister and I from back in the day at Disneyland!
There you have it. My living room in a nutshell! Thanks for allowing me to showcase it, Heather! And thanks for stopping by to tour!
