Katy’s Holiday Home Made Lovely

Welcome to Holiday Home Made Lovely-
a little collection of previous Home Made Lovely blogger’s that have come back
to share how they make their homes lovely…for the holidays

Hello! My name is Katy & I blog over at Scottyboy and Katygirl where I blog about my family, my designs, and my journey as a girl who loves the Lord. Heather asked me to do a home tour last August but since then I have moved & had a baby girl. Things look a lot different! Today I am just showing you some snap shots around my home of things that make our lives not only a little more lovely, but a LOT more merry and bright.

I grew up with my mom decorating for every holiday. Every little nook & cranny of our home was always so warm and inviting with special heart behind every item in their designated places. I always knew I wanted to be that way, but when I got married, the desire to decorate for Christmas was even more important to me. I kind of think my husband is half elf. He loves Christmas more than any other human being I know. So when November 1st hits, he starts talking about it, and starts dreaming up the entire season. So for me, decorating for the holidays brings lots of cheer to this home. I love it that way.

When you walk through my front door, you walk down a long hallway to get to the rest of the home. It used to bother me, because I felt like there was not a whole lot that I could do with this area & there isn’t a whole lot of natural light, but now I love it. I love to find new things to do with it. And it has so much possibility for holiday decorating!

And I feel that when you walk into a home, the first thing that people see should make them feel warm and invited.
Every year, we try & find something unique to buy for the home at Christmas time. The “cut your own Christmas trees” sign is one of our favorite things we’ve found! I keep trying to talk my husband into buying a artificial tree, but he won’t have anything to do with it. He says the sign will become obsolete. :)
To me, the best part about Christmas is celebrating Jesus and the fact that He came to live & die for me. It is what it is all about. And I like to have reminders around our home.
This hutch is one of my favorite pieces of furniture. I love to find new things for it! I usually just change out the canisters for the time of year that it is.
I have these frame collages on my living room wall, so I just hung snowflakes from some twine to add a little more merry to the room.
And since we are all about Christmas in this house, I added a tree in my kids’ rooms this year. I should be slightly embarrassed, but I kind of love it.
There couldn’t be a tree in the kids’ rooms without one in ours! This little corner of our home is my my favorite spot. I love to read and cuddle up on the chair with a blanket. Even better with the festivities lighting up the room.
And every year, it never fails, I find little tidbits my husband has added to the mix. This year, he filled this whole candy dish with trinkets.
And if you take a little stroll out to his garage, you’ll find that he’s even decorated that.  See, I told you he’s part elf.
Thanks for popping in! And thanks for inviting me, Heather. I hope you’ll come visit me over at my place & I also hope you have a merry Christmas.
