With Thanks
Today I’m at Beautifully Rooted, sharing about how I’m going to set my table with thanks this year. I hope you’ll come by and say hi.
Lasting Possessions
Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. -Hebrews 10:32-34 This week marks the 5th anniversary of Samuel’s passing.
This week leaves me feeling anxious and exhausted, all at the same time.
This week, that verse, which is from Week Two in the Mercy Triumphs study at Beautifully Rooted, found me when I needed it most. As I read it, I started to cry. It was as though God was talking to me through it. I have lived each of those words because of Samuel’s sweet life.
This week, I’m going to remember how my life changed the moment I let Jesus into it.
This week I’m going to focus on how God carried us through our darkest hours, and how He opened our eyes at the same time.
This week I’m going to trust in Him. His timing, His means, His way. Because it’s always better. Always. Even when it hurts.
This week I’m going to remind myself that I have better and lasting possessions, and I’m going to take comfort in it.
The First Week
1. When the weather cools we’re going to tackle painting the outside of our house. I’m envisioning something like this.
2. Then I want to make some of these to add light to our autumn nights.
3. This weekend I’m planning on making some of this iced coffee. I pretty much want to make every single thing on Cindy’s blog. Her recipes are delish and I heart her photography.
4. I’m really excited because over at Beautifully Rooted we’re gearing up for our first Bible Study- Beth Moore’s Mercy Triumphs. Join us!
5. I’ve decided to make a leap and take my business in a new direction, which means I need to clear out my remaining pre-made blog designs. They’re all 30% right now!
6. I tweeted about this a few weeks ago, but this post on mothering and blogging is so good it deserves repeating. I think its probably the best I’ve ever read.
