Last summer we worked on her brother’s room,
so this summer it was her turn.  There’s still a few more
bits to add, but so far I think it’s looking pretty sweet.
Details coming soon.

You Never Know

You just never know where inspiration will come from.

I found the inspiration for my birthday bathroom fix up in this illustration.
It’s from the vintage book, Babar and Father Christmas.  I came across it at the thrift
store a few weeks ago and immediately fell in love with the the colors and the vintage,
but very modern looking illustrations.  I also love that it incorporates the colors I’ve
used in the rest of the house.  With my girl being so sick I haven’t had a chance to
finish the last little project just yet, but here’s a little peak at what’s ready and waiting.

Have a happy weekend!!

Outside

My husband cleaned out the camper for me, just as he had promised.  When all the scrubbing was done though, we realized we had a much bigger project on our hands then we initially expected.  The thin birch veneer that covers the walls of our 1967 Kitt Camper, all original, had become so dry from the Arizona heat that it is literally falling right off of the walls with even the slightest touch.  It’s not a deal breaker, it just means it’s going to take a bit more time to make her look purty.  I’m thinking Modge Podge and vintage book pages!  Until I can tackle that project we’ve been keeping busy sprucing up the outside space to reflect her sweet vintage charm.  I took a few photos last night, just as dusk was settling in. Come have a look…

We have a dog that likes to eat vegetables, so we have a fence around our garden.

This is the view from the camper out into the garden.
What our home lacks for in square footage, it more than makes up for in yard size,
and since we live in the middle of a bustling city, our outdoor space is a treasure to us.
My husband is an avid gardener and so the size of our garden has slowly grown
over the years to the point of  small farm.

To keep the garden looking pretty he uses industrial elements to create the trellises
and tomato cages.  All the rocks that line the beds were found in ally ways and in debris
piles on construction sites.  Same goes for the few bits of wood he has used.

I once saw in a magazine, a home that filled their entire yard with lavender plants.
For me that would be like heaven.

Yes, even my man is crafty.
This year he’s growing about 7 different varieties of tomatoes
and this is how he keeps track of each one.

Hello ladies.

This is my favorite part so far.
We find ourselves sneaking out here after the kids
go to bed so we can chat under the lights.

So, that’s our space so far.
I promise to keep you updated as I get more done,
but for now I think I’m just going to enjoy being outside.

On a Positive Note

I want to make sure that I send my crew out into the world on a positive note,
so I’ve taken my front entry space and filled it will all things lovely and hopeful.
February Front Entry

Included in the mix are a favorite photo of my little people (thanks to Groupon
and Canvas On Demand), some of Henry’s artwork, including the drawing he made
when he was 4 years old of Samuel, and some happy prints from designers on Etsy.

Lovely (Etsy) Art

The latest addition to my wall is this lovely print.
It hangs right above where my boys hang their coats and hats.

Share the Love
I love that it’s one of the last things they look at before heading
out the door, and one of the first things they see when they return.

On the Lookout

Today I’m on the lookout for a little happy around the house.
Mustaches Make Me Smile
What can I say…mustaches make me smile,
and for only $2.99 at Cost Plus I had to snatch him up.
Paper Globes
This stick has a story…One day while climbing the tree in the backyard Henry
had a misstep and fell out, breaking this branch on his way down.  Being the little
nature lover that he is, he was much more upset over hurting the tree then he was
over getting scraped up.  To ease his sensitive little heart I brought the branch
inside, wrapped it in yarn, and then put it to good use by creating a mobile with
the set of paper globes (that are made out of an old atlas) I had bought
from Elizabeth St.  Now it makes both of us happy when we see it.
Cheerful Shelves 2

The new mini hand form I found at Urban Outfitters on clearance
for $2.95 and some mini buntings from The Knotted Nest
I feel happier already.
Happy Wednesday to you!!
