Our house rules.

I’m a girl that loves to fill her space with personal art, so I was excited when the folks at Photo-Canvas contacted me to review one of their products.  I felt like a kid in a candy shop as I browsed through all the options on their site.  Since I already have a few photo canvases I chose to use a special print created by Molly from Tank and Tink Designs.
The order process was simple and the customer service was outstanding.  In a few days time I had my custom created canvas in my hand.  I was immediately smitten with it.  The canvas has a more fabric-like texture than the other canvases I have, and I adore it.  The texture is really lovely.  I may have been so excited about it that I might have been late making lunch for my little people, but only because I couldn’t wait to start redecorating my shelves to find a special spot for it.

Now my personalized canvas sits where I can admire it every single day.
Thank you Photo-Canvas!

P.S.  The print I used for my canvas was created by Molly for a new project benefiting the Joyful Life Library.  I’ll be sharing all about it next week on August 15 (which is Samuel’s birthday!)

Vintage Sheet Love

You know how sometimes you’ll be jolted out of a sound sleep because all of a
sudden you realize that you’d forgotten to do something.  Please tell me this happens to
you, too.  Anyhow, that was me the other night when I realized I had completely forgotten to post the details of my girl’s room.  It’s been over a month now since I first shared the photos. Let’s just call it better late than never, mkay. To make up for it though, I’ve added in a few new views of the room.  At this point, I’m sure you’ve already guessed this, but her room was inspired by my love of handmade, vintage sheets, and my pursuit of combining the two.  I’m pretty in love with the results.

About Those Doors

I’m so happy to know you guys love chalkboards as much as I do.
These doors in my kitchen…
chalkboard doors
came from this spot.
I took them down so I could create a puppet theater.

 About that curtain…

For the puppet theater curtain I used a $5 painter’s drop cloth, a tension rod,
and some thrifted seam binding.  I originally hung it using one of those rounded
curtain rods (the cheapo kind), but the kids kept banging into it because it stuck
out too far from the wall.  One of these days I’ll take the brackets down from it.

This built in cabinet/closet thing isn’t very useful for storage purposes because of its
semi-triangular shape, but it works great for this use.  Both kids fit in it with room to spare
and I’m able to store the puppets in a hanging basket that I attached to the wall inside.

It also makes a pretty great hiding spot, too.
it makes a good hiding spot too.
About those doors…
When Henry was just a little sprout I painted the inside of them with chalkboard paint
so that he could have a place to draw.  When I took them down to hang the curtain, I loved
the brass hinges and the beat up finish that they’d acquired way to much to just store them,
so I decided to hang them up.  I added 3 random pulls that had been collected from the
Anthro clearance table and Hobby Lobby’s 50% off sale in place of the original handles
and then we simply screwed the doors directly to the wall.

I love making good use of space and old treasures.
It’s sort of an addiction of mine.
